Power

There is a power in forgiveness that is so enormous, so overwhelming that it seems incomprehensible.  God showed us the depth and character of his heart by setting up a forgiveness through Jesus that crushes anything that tries to get in it’s way.  Through that sacrifice, forgiveness was one once and for all.  Death now has no power, it has no sting. There is a victorious eternity waiting, because of forgiveness.  Through Jesus, the price for our sin was paid in full.  There is nothing we can do to earn it.  We need simply to embrace it.  But more than living in the knowledge of that cleansing, we live in a power that defeats sin as it tries to strangle us, tries to deceive us into living like we did before we knew forgiveness.  There is a power in forgiveness that defeats Satan’s attempts to suck us into the vortex of his destructive ways.  We, instead of being defeated, are conquerors of sin because of Jesus.  We do not need to give in.  We do not need to struggle.  We live in power.  We live in the strength of the God of the universe who sealed our fate and sealed it with grace!  It doesn’t matter if we FEEL forgiven.  We ARE forgiven. We live in the knowledge of truth rather than being tossed about by feelings and emotions.  Truth leads us to living in power!  Truth grounds us. The truth is that Jesus went to the cross to rescue us.  Jesus went to the cross to wash us clean.  Jesus went to the cross to show us the power of forgiveness.  His forgiveness knows no end, it has not limits, it can’t be worn out, it is new every morning according to his Word.  We are only defeated by our lack of knowledge of what he has actually accomplished for us.  We are limited by our stubborn disbelief that we can be forgiven or have been.  Well, let’s get over it.  Let’s live in power rather than walking around like we are defeated.  We have been forgiven!  We are free!  Live like it!  Live in power!
